MISSING was launched by Paul and Deborah Missing with the aim of creating timeless clothing that celebrates British tailoring and craftsmanship.
All of our garments are made in London with every component – from natural shell buttons to garment labels – made in the British Isles by small artisanal businesses. Made in limited quantities, every MISSING garment is designed for mixing, matching and layering. We believe that linen should be worn all year round. Whether at home, at your workplace, or kicking back in sunnier climes.
Ireland has been producing the highest quality linen for centuries. There are fewer and fewer weavers producing linen today as trends have moved towards man-made fabrics chosen according to cost with little attention paid to quality, origin and uniqueness.
Using the highest quality and most environmentally friendly materials is paramount to us. It’s why MISSING clothing is made from 100% Irish linen. Irish linen has a denser weave and fewer slubs making it the most refined version of the fabric. It is thermoregulatory – keeping you cool in the heat and warm in the cold. As the fabric ages and relaxes over time, it creates a garment unique to your body shape.
All of our linen is woven especially for us by a small family mill in Ireland. The flax is sourced in Belgium and yarn dyed in Ireland, before being spun and woven in the unique two-tone MISSING colour ways.
